What is Tantra?
Tara L. Skubella
After experiencing a profound spiritual awakening that changed my life in every way February of 2015, I began exploring Tantra and fell in love with the path. After immersing myself into Tantra through workshops, retreats, literature, practices and a master class to reconnect with my Shakti energy and support the new found download, I felt the calling to share Tantra with others. In March of 2016, I completed a month long teacher's certification immersion course in Thailand, with Tribal Tantra, that completely shifted the way I viewed Tantra as a whole. That 1 1/2 years led me to embody the practice of LIVING in Tantra.
Some people may know me from Naked and Afraid. I survived 21 days in a Panamanian Jungle living intimately with the earth and sleeping with my bare naked skin touching the jungle soil every night. This particular experience is the basis for much of my spiritual growth and gifts to share with the world.
My unique wilderness perspective can also be attributed to 26+ years of teaching outdoor education, outdoor guiding, wilderness therapy, wilderness survival, working with people who've experienced trauma in the social services field and being an Earth Science teacher. My Secondary Earth Science Teaching Degree is held from Northwest Missouri State University. I believe my science background, comfort of naturism, wilderness application and spiritual practices create a practice in entirety. It is important to first connect with nature and ourselves before we can fully connect with others in a healthy, authentic and intimate way.
I'm also a 200 hr (working on 500 hrs) Tantra & Kundalini Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher through World Peace Yoga School (Himalayan Tantra lineage based) in Rishikesh, India. Other certifications include Integral Relationship Coach, Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace Master Educator, Death Doula and Wedding Officiant. My passions stay alive in the outdoor red world by teaching wilderness survival (autumn semesters) and leave no trace ethics (spring semesters) at Red Rocks Community College near Denver, CO.

WHAT is Tantra? The word Tantra itself means to "weave" (Tan) for expansion of (Tra). Tantra is the practice of connecting or "weaving" ourselves with mind, body spirit & others through energy to expand toward self awareness and enlightenment. It is a way of life that embodies our awakened being. Is Tantra just about sex? Most people associate Tantra with sex, and Tantra is MUCH more. Yes, sacred sexuality is a part of Tantra, BUT only a very small slice of the pie. There are hundreds of modalities within Tantra, which can create confusion with the linear mind. However, we can pick and choose the practices that resonate with us the MOST as an individual, in partnership, with family and community.
Earth Tantra also believes any energy practiced with self and with others can also be used to tune into our relationship with earth. This is an important part in keeping ourselves grounded, connected and whole. Earth Tantra combines traditions of Buddhism, Taoism, Hindu and Tara's life expertise in wilderness healing, earth based ceremonies and rituals to offer a comprehensive and classical approach to living in Tantra. Earth Tantra believes Tantra doesn't exclude any practice that brings you closer to your higher self. For example, some Tantric practices may include nature & mother earth, energy, breath, light touch, meditation, movement/dance, verbal/non-verbal communication, visions, yoga, music, the 5 senses, women's womb healing, moon energy, sacred sexuality and traditional sacred ceremonies and rituals
For WHO? Earth Tantra is for anyone who feels the call to heal with nature and transform through classical approaches of tantra. Earth Tantra does not focus on sacred sexuality, however a few retreats offer gentle introductions to. We don't need to be perfect or "holy" to practice Tantra. Earth Tantra guides ALL people of all ages, gender/s, sexuality, ways of relationshiping, cultural/ ethnic backgrounds or religious/non-religious toward healing with nature and transforming with Tantra. All offerings are for ages 18 and older, unless otherwise stated for events like Red Tents and a few ceremonies and workshops for younger people with an adult.
